Earth from Space: International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

  • University zurich 190 Winterthurerstrasse Zürich, ZH, 8057 Switzerland (map)

In occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science,
the NPOC for satellite data will offer to young girls, from 13 to 16, a science workshop:
"Earth from Space"
An opportunity to discover the use and applications of Earth observations from satellites. The workshop will take place at the University of Zurich (Irchel Campus)
on Thursday afternoon, February 9th 2023 (registration and detailed informations are online).

Have you ever wondered what the Earth looks like from space?

Satellites orbiting our planet allow us to take a look at our surroundings, but also at places far away. We can even go back in time or get information that is invisible to our eyes, for example through infrared light! Explore the satellite images on your computer or with the help of an augmented reality (AR) app and learn how researchers use satellite data to monitor different processes on Earth, from natural disasters to climate change, from agriculture to urban development.
